Which brand do you think could overthrow Apple and Samsung?

Samsung and Apple own about 80% of the smartphone market in the United States, and this has been the case for years. No matter what they release, people keep choosing either Galaxy or iPhone, and no other brand can even remotely come close to their sales numbers.

According to Counterpoint Research, Lenovo is the third-largest selling smartphone manufacturer in the United States, with a 14% market share for its Motorola brand. Other sources claim that Motorola's market share is much lower, and some place Google in third place. However, in all this data, Pixels have a single-digit market share.

One of the main reasons Americans typically choose iPhones and Galaxy devices is because of their carriers. Most people in the United States buy phones through their carrier, and most carriers offer very few options outside of the market leaders. They're all rendering pixels, so there's probably something else going on.

Motorola and Google are in the best position to challenge Apple and Samsung. According to some data, the HMD is performing slightly better than the rest of the group. Owning the Nokia brand, which is also sold by some major carriers, would likely be beneficial.

Do you think these are the brands that can dethrone the current champions? What do you think of OnePlus and Nothing, which have achieved global success despite their limited impact in the United States? Do you think some other brands have better chances? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.
