Samsung is working on a tri-folding smartphone similar to the Huawei Mate XT. This tri-fold phone - which was previously rumored to launch in 2026 - will allegedly launch this year instead. but, Samsung realizes that the market for expensive tri-foldable devices is not mature enough, and therefore has set very low sales expectations.
This foldable phone will likely carry the Galaxy moniker and will likely be an enthusiast-only phone. the The Huawei Mate XT retails for around $2,800, but has seen prices jump to nearly $10,000 due to the shortage. Samsung's foldable triple variant will likely see the same treatment and is expected to cost at least $2,500.
The company set a production target of only 200,000 units after disappointing sales of the Z Flip and Z Fold phones.
It has been reported that Samsung has set a production plan for the first “Tri-Fold phone”, scheduled to be launched this year, at about 200,000 units. Production of Tri-Fold components is expected to begin in the second quarter.
With a bigger price tag and a more modern gimmick, the Galaxy tri-fold is unlikely to fly off the shelves in my opinion. However, it would be a great phone to use at parties if you can afford it.

The company really showed some Hot deals at CES 2025 including practical concept tri-folding panels that could be used for the upcoming phone. while The Galaxy S25 series is being launched this month and is said to The Galaxy S25 Slim will be released later this year. I expect the Slim to launch before the tri-foldable model, but I also think Samsung's offerings this year could get a bit crowded. However, the company may want to acquire S25 Slim Out the door before Apple even gets a chance to unveil what's new iPhone 17 Air. The Galaxy tri-fold will likely provide at least some competition on capabilities Pixel Fold 10 if Samsung teases it before Google phones come out.
The Galaxy tri-fold, no matter how expensive it may be, is likely to be one of these devices The best phones to come out in 2025. But I doubt they'll really take off until Samsung can get the cost down significantly.
