Apple Card users in LA wildfire zone get help from Cupertino when they need it most

Apple is stepping up its efforts to support Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts by allowing affected Apple Card users To postpone their payments

Apple just launched a program that allows Apple Card users residing in an area declared a natural disaster area by FEMA to become eligible for late payments. You can sign up for the program via the Messages app, where you must contact Apple Card support.

Apple Card users affected by the ongoing situation in Los Angeles can skip a payment in the month they sign up, and will not have to deal with interest accruing during this period. The APR for the standard purchase will apply the following month. If the account is in good standing (meaning no late payments or negative marks in its history), it will remain current while enrolled in the program. At the same time, past due accounts will not past due during the enrollment period.

If you have scheduled payments, they'll be processed as usual unless you cancel them through Apple Wallet, online, or with the help of an Apple Cards specialist.

Wildfires have been raging in Los Angeles since January 7, causing massive damage, destroying thousands of buildings and forcing thousands of people to evacuate.

Meanwhile, Tim Cook took to X to express his concern about the ongoing situation, calling the fires heartbreaking. Apple's CEO also praised the heroic efforts of first responders and stated that Apple would donate to support relief efforts.

Apple isn't the only company now lending a helping hand to people affected by the bushfires. Verizon just announced It will waive all prepaid and postpaid call, text, and data charges for California residents in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Ventura counties from January 9-18. AT&T is doing something similar, waiving excess fees and allowing unlimited talk, text, and data through February 6, 2025.
