Amazon puts a warning on the Snapdragon X-powered Surface Laptop 7 – but why

[ad_1]

Last year, Qualcomm and Microsoft has pushed the ecosystem on Windows-on-Arm. The surface laptops, equipped with Snapdragon X Elite processors, were from Qualcomm based on the ARM structure, among the first computers represented by Copilot+ and got praise for its speed and life for the battery. But it seems that not everyone is pleased with the Snapdragon laptop. The latest report revealed this Amazon now determines the surface laptop 7 as an element that is repeatedly returned, and warns potential buyers against checking the reviews and doing their research before the purchase.

This alert, which appears in yellow below the description of the product, indicates that the laptop is sent again more than usual. However, Amazon does not specify the reason for returning to customers and revenues can occur to all types of causes - devices problems, software compatibility problems or the buyer's remorse simply - so it is not clear what exactly this trend.

However, although positive reviews often, a closer look at low classifications indicates a major problem: compatibility. The real problem seems to be with external devices such as printers and scanners, which often fail to connect properly with the Snapdragon system that works with it.

Others have noted that the way USB-C interacts with a Snapdragon X Elite processor may restrict accessories that can be used with a laptop. While some users were initially concerned about software support, many of them found alternative applications in the Microsoft Store.

Windows on ARM is a major transformation in the PC world, and aims to mix the traditional Windows experience with energy efficiency of arm -based processors. The latter has always been an essential component of smartphones and brought them to computers, meaning privileges such as the longest battery life, always connecting to and improving transmission.

However, although Microsoft has improved applications a lot, some programs - especially those that have complex settings or heavy performance needs - are still running smoothly as they do on traditional X86 machines.

For many users, the shift to a Snapdragon X computer will not be a big deal, but others may have to find alternative applications to replace those that do not work either. And if you depend on very specialized software, sticking to the X86 Windows PC may be the most intelligent option.

However, in order to be fair, Microsoft and Qualcomm work closely with developers to expand the original application of Windows on Arm, so things are definitely moving in the right direction.
