For a short moment, it looked like direct messages on X (previously Twitter). An unofficial exchange between the X user and one of the software engineers in the statute to a wave of confusion after the engineer said unlimited that the entire DM page will be deleted “soon”. On the Internet, of course, the worst assumes – that X was planning to completely remove the DMS.
Everything began when the X user reported an error and made a sign of an engineer to look. Response? “This page will be deleted soon, so no.” This hidden response led to a follow -up question: “So there are no other messages requests?” The engineer doubled, saying, “No, not like the request messages, but like both DMS will disappear soon.”
This response quickly spread across the platform, causing everything from real anxiety to explicit disbelief. Many users asked why anyone continues to use X if the company really removes one of its most important features. The responses rolled: “This seems like a terrible idea” and “Why Twitter at that stage?” Repeat the topics and re -publish.
But just a few hours later, another X employee enters the air. They said that the original message was offended. It was not that the company was planning to get rid of the DMS completely, but was the DM page – as in the current user interface or the back interface structure – due to rewriting. Not removing. The original engineer also updated his post to clarify this.
This type of confusion has become a matter of trend in X since ELON Musk took over the company. It is not uncommon for employees to be hurt in unofficial responses instead of organized ads. Although this can give users a sense of direct access to the internal work of the platform, it also opens the door for a bad understanding, especially when the formulation is vague or technical.
Currently, the DM system on X is still fully operating. Although it is likely that the repair of the design or the background in the business is likely to be, there is no indication that the company plans to remove messages as a feature. I see that taking such a step will be a radical transformation, especially for the platform that increases itself as a space for creators, professionals and societies to communicate with public jobs.
